Blooms and Bokeh. I’ll admit it. I’m less than enthusiastic about this year’s list. It isn’t that I think poorly of the individual photos in the countdown. I really do like them. I might even love a few of them. It’s just that on the whole they don’t resonate with me in the way that the selections have in years past. There seems to be a real disconnect, and it has left me at a loss when it comes to writing these posts. So I guess that’s something. It’s not something profound. Just the facts. Some years are better than others.
As an aside, I delved a bit into poetry this year, taking a class at the Houston Public Library and joining a poetry book club. Blooms and Bokeh feels a bit like a visual haiku to me. So it seemed only fitting to include this slightly unusual nature image in the countdown.
