another day, another fairytale – Every day is a fairytale when one is “road tripping” through New England during the fall foliage season. I was lucky this past year to have spent eight wonderful days gallivanting about Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire, each day with one sole focus – photographing the reds, fuchsias, oranges and yellows of autumn.
another day, another fairytale was taken in Stowe, Vermont on a voluptuously foggy morning. The weather during my trip had been pretty challenging photographically-speaking — very few sunny days. But this unexpected foggy morning was a gift, a timely mea culpa from the weather gods. They may have only given me two partially sunny days during my time in New England, but they gave me fog, so all has since been forgiven.
So there it was. Fog in the valley when looking down from the mountain top. Fog enveloping bridges and blanketing roadways. Fog waltzing with horses and snuggling with calves. I even found fog in a bog with a log doing its best to flirt with a dreamy red maple (shout out to Dr. Seuss!) . Fog was in all the right places interacting with all the right colors, and that was all the “yes” I needed to start booking 2010’s New England trip –in my mind, at least.
Although I’ve taken some creative license with another day, another fairytale, it comes in at #4 because it captures with precision the fairytale that I stepped into that beautiful morning in Stowe, Vermont. After all, it’s not always the reality of the situation that dictates one’s interface with the everyday. It’s one’s take on that reality. In Stowe, I chose to take in the magic. another day, another fairytale is the result.
I have so numerous fog photos from Stowe that I have yet to process. I just haven’t had the time. That said, two additional photos from that misty morning, the mist’s fodder and autumn in stowe, vermont can be seen below.
