It’s been a busy four weeks. Busy…actually might be an understatement. I’ve been longing for a moment to come up for air, and an assignment in Fort Worth next week should give me just the pocket to do so.
Recent notables:
*A mishap-laden maternity session, a session that saw me losing my primary backdrop moments before my client’s arrival. Results were surprisingly good given my makeshift set-up.
*A series of editorial-style portrait sessions, shot for a local publication, that allowed me to work with some of the more fascinating folks making up the patchwork of our fair city.
*A new relationship with a publishing company that will be featuring my work in a book about Houston. My trip to Fort Worth will be my second assignment for the company — this time requiring me to do a photo essay — something that I think I’m capable of doing and doing well.
*A handful of profile portraits for a local law firm. I was there to fill in the blanks, provide photos for those who still needed them. A delightful and intelligent group of people.
*A quick headshot session for a repeat client, the person that I credit for my foray into portrait photography.
*A handful of additional portrait sessions, sessions with beautiful, expressive people, people who keep my job interesting and exciting.
*Participation in a current local exhibition, 600 Sq Mi: Photos from Houston. I’m a little disappointed about how my photo looks in print, so that has soured my enthusiasm for my own work in the show, however, I’m thankful that the jurors included my work, and I’m truly looking forward to seeing all the other participants’ installments. It should be a great show. (A side note: Yours truly submitted “600 Sq Mi” as a possible name for the exhibition. Heehee. *claps*)
Once the publications go to print, I’ll post more about those particular assignments.
Happy September, everyone!
