Given that we are going to be experiencing this journey together, I feel it is my duty to come clean about my photography strengths and weaknesses. While I feel fairly confident about my compositional skills, my ability to capture “moments,” and my unique way of seeing the world, I have a bit to learn when it comes to the technical side of photography — the camera settings, the lighting, the Photoshop madness. I’ve never been technologically inclined, so the mechanical side of photography is at times stiffling. That said, education will be an important part of my journey. I’ll find a way to learn what I need to learn (there’s no way around it), and I’ll keep you posted every step of the way.
The above photo, entangled, brings me both joy and frustration when I look at it. For the most part, I’m thrilled with the way it turned out. It translated almost perfectly from “the moment” to the image. My only beef with the photo is the crop; I wish I had widened the shot just a tad so not to destroy the rhythm of the photo on the top left side.
